Poor readability lets it down. August 11, 2008

Plus: Useful to be able to input a game rather than just rely on the 'on-board' ones. Easy to use and navigate, although the instructions are basic (one page of the booklet taken up with Mensa information).
Niggle: Slightly irritating having to hunt for a mini-screwdriver to undo the battery cover (batteries not supplied). Plays a silly little tune at the opening of each new game, which seems unnecessary (and possibly not public-transport-friendly).
Minus: Seems to be a common problem with this type of game but the numbers are really difficult to read, and the backlighting is fairly weak. Any strong light source and you'll find yourself doing interesting contortions to be work out if that's a 3, 5 or and 8. And that slows down your time!
Overall quite happy with it but not sure it will be as good for travelling as I'd hoped.
